Civics Classroom Library for Grade 2

Teachers today are looking for social studies content to help elementary school students achieve literacy in the important social studies strand of civics. The Civics Classroom Library for Grade 2 introduces complex civics concepts at a level that students understand. These resources provide students with real-world connections that allow them to explore civics topics in relevant, meaningful ways while stimulating their natural curiosity about the world around them. Facilitate civics discourse by equipping students with the academic vocabulary and content-area knowledge they need to achieve civic competence and become 21st century citizens.

This Classroom Library includes six 6-Packs of primary source readers and Reader's Theater resources that focus on civics content in the framework of social studies. The primary source readers include informational text features such as glossaries, indexes, and clear images to engage students in reading and learning. The Reader's Theater resources teach civics concepts through engaging scripts, poems and songs with differentiated roles to accommodate all reading levels. Each 6-Pack includes six copies of the title and a corresponding lesson plan. Aligned to the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and C3 Framework standards, these resources prepare students for college and career. Titles include (titles may vary):
